Ever feel like you are perpetually staring at the watch cursor, waiting for it to change back into the arrow?
Well here is the way to free up your eyes, and take a break! When you are doing a long task that ties up the computer for longer than 10 seconds or so (and shows the dreaded watch) the computer (with Watch Alarm installed) will beep when the cursor changes back again and the task is done.
It's one of those "Why didn't I (or apple for that matter) think of that?" (well maybe you did, but don't know the first thing about programming).
Watch Alarm won't beep unless the watch is shown for 10 seconds or more (to save your sanity). That way it won't beep after opening your favorite application, but will after you sort your least favorite database.
How to install Watch Alarm:
If you are using system 7, drag the Watch Alarm icon into the System Extensions folder.
If not, just drag it into the system folder.
Then restart and presto, it's all set.
Watch Alarm only uses about 300 bytes (.3 K) of your precious ram space, and it won't slow down your Mac. So don't worry, just save some retna cells!!
How to turn it off:
If for some reason you don't want Watch Alarm to load at Startup, just hold down the Shift key after you see the happy Mac Icon.
If you are doing a specific task (such as playing sounds) and you don't want Watch Alarm beeping, just press the Caps Lock key down. Watch Alarm will ignore the cursor while Caps Lock is down, but will resume working after you let the Caps Lock key back up (assuming you let Watch Alarm load at startup time).
To permanently remove Watch Alarm, take it out of the folder you put it in to install it, then restart.
